Peterborough’s population is one of the fastest growing in the UK, data just published from the 2021 Census has revealed.
A 17.5% rise over the past ten years means that the City is now home to 215,000 people, up more than 32,000 in a decade. This is more than twice the growth of the East of England (8.3%), in a national picture which saw the East grow faster than any part of the UK
While the population has grown in all age groups, the City has seen a notable rise in of those aged 0-19, with a particularly increase of children aged 5 – 14, higher than that seen in neighbouring areas.
