Posted: 21/06/2013

Wildwood, who offer freshly prepared, locally sourced, high quality food, are set to open a new outlet in Peterborough’s Cathedral Square, creating over 30 new local jobs.

Following hot on the heels of the recent opening of Carluccio’s on Cumbergate, this announcement will mean that all the units around Cathedral Square will be fully occupied.

Wildwood’s ethos is to “serve great food, delivered by friendly staff in a relaxed, homely environment”. Specialities on the menu include grills, salads, and freshly prepared pastas.

With its modern décor and high quality food the restaurant has impressed customers at existing locations including Canary Wharf, Covent Garden, Market Harborough and Gerrard’s Cross.

The Peterborough restaurant will operate throughout the day and evenings significantly promoting the vitality of this part of the city centre.

Wildwood is part of the highly respected restaurant group Tasty plc, which is operated by Samuel and Adam Kaye, co-founders of Italian restaurant chain ASK. They also own the well-known Dim T Asian restaurant brand. Wildwood in Cathedral Square will be a restaurant for all ages, especially families, and will complement the growing food offer in the heart of the city.

Steve Bowyer, Head of Economic development at Opportunity Peterborough, said: “We’re delighted with Wildwood’s decision to come to Peterborough. This represents another important piece of the jigsaw to create a strong dining offer which is already pulling more and more people into the city centre. I am sure this will be a hugely popular addition to the daytime and evening economy and look forward to it being part of our vibrant city centre.”

Jonny Plant Chief Executive Officer of Wildwood, said: “We are really pleased to be coming to Peterborough. Cathedral Square is a great location for us and we look forward to providing a high quality, affordable and friendly experience to the people of Peterborough.”

A planning application for the new Wildwood restaurant on Cathedral Square will be submitted to Peterborough City Council shortly.
