Metro Bank, the revolution in British banking, is bringing community banking to Peterborough, with the opening of its 50th store. To celebrate the golden occasion, Metro Bank is holding a two-day long grand opening party on Friday 29th and Saturday 30th September.

The fun-filled days will be jam-packed with family entertainment including dog-shows, stilt-walkers, giveaways and live music. Priding itself on  providing unparalleled levels of customer service and convenience, Metro Bank enables customers to bank however, whenever and wherever they choose, whether that’s face-to-face in store, on the phone through its UK-based contact centres manned by people and not machines, online or through its award-winning mobile app.

Iain Kirkpatrick, Managing Director of Retail Banking at Metro Bank commented: “Reaching 50 stores is a cause for celebration for all of us here at Metro Bank. The warm welcome we’re receiving from communities as we expand across the country, really shows that people are ready for a bank that puts them first.

“We can’t wait to provide local residents and businesses in Peterborough with a seven day a week bank, where accounts can be opened on the spot, cards printed in a matter of minutes, safe deposit boxes accessible when customers need them and free coin counters for customers and non-customers alike. What’s more, our centrally-located stores act as community hubs, hosting hundreds of events throughout the year, from free financial education sessions for schools, to networking events for local businesses. We’re thrilled to be doing things differently and to be bringing the banking revolution to yet another community.”

Steve Bowyer, chief executive of Opportunity Peterborough added: “Having worked with Metro Bank on its decision to come to Peterborough it’s a real pleasure to see the store being opened and for it to mark an important milestone for the company.

“Peterborough has a very strong financial services sector and it’s great to have Metro Bank joining other industry leaders here and contributing to the city’s growth.”

The new Peterborough team will be led by Asad Bachiani, Store Manager and Steve Stafford, Local Director and can be found at 29 Long Causeway, Peterborough, PE1 1YJ

All Metro Bank stores are open at the most convenient time for both residents and businesses, from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm on Saturday and 11am to 5pm on Sunday and bank holidays, 362 days a year.

Having first opened its doors in 2010, Metro Bank became the first high street bank to open in the UK in over 100 years. From its first store in Holborn, Metro Bank has expanded rapidly over the last seven years across London and the South and plans to have around 100 stores nationwide by 2020.
